Haytalras LS3/L92 Hi-Ram planning guide

Confirm the complete induction system before ordering the manifold.

A Hi-Ram intake purchase affects the complete induction system. Before you order, confirm the cylinder-head flange, the space above and around the engine, the throttle-control strategy, rail connections, vacuum needs, sensor calibration, and the first-start plan. This guide covers the Haytalras 300-116 92 mm and 300-117 102 mm LS3/L92-style rectangle-port EFI manifolds. It helps you prepare the purchase and installation; use the final instructions and torque specifications supplied for the exact part you receive.

Shared Dimensions and Inlet Choice

Haytalras factory information confirms that the 300-116 and 300-117 share the same casting design and external envelope. The confirmed manifold difference is the throttle-body opening: 92 mm for the 300-116 and 102 mm for the 300-117. Select the opening that matches the throttle body, control system, and airflow plan already defined for the engine.

The sculpted ribbed plenum, forward-facing inlet, and exposed runners give both versions a purposeful, race-inspired appearance. This airflow-focused Hi-Ram layout is intended for performance EFI builds, but the manifold alone cannot guarantee a horsepower or torque gain. The finished result depends on the complete engine and calibration, so 102 mm is not automatically better than 92 mm.

Confirm Your Cylinder Heads

A Hi-Ram does not fit an engine simply because it is called an LS or has a certain displacement. The flange must match the head's port shape, location, sealing land, and bolt pattern. The current Haytalras listings identify both manifolds for standard-deck LS3/L76/L92/L99-style rectangle-port applications. Verify the casting or part number of the heads actually installed; do not rely on vehicle year, block casting, or advertised engine size.

Chevrolet Performance likewise states that its LS3 long blocks require an intake that matches the LS3-style rectangle-port interface and warns that Gen III-style manifolds do not match. Do not extend that statement to cathedral-port or LS7 heads. If the block or heads have been decked or milled, dry-fit the manifold because machining can change flange alignment. The casting should sit evenly on both banks without the fasteners pulling it into place.

Check Hood and Accessory Clearance First

Manifold height is not the same as required hood clearance. Include the installed engine angle and mounts, throttle body, coupler, intake tube, fuel and vacuum fittings, wiring, and hood structure. Also allow for engine movement and any part that sits higher than the casting.

Factory drawings for the shared casting show an overall length of 606.1 mm (23.86 in.) and width of 333.8 mm (13.14 in.). Rear height is 282.6 mm (11.13 in.); the taller front inlet end reaches 314.6 mm (12.39 in.). Use 314.6 mm as the maximum overall casting height. These loose-manifold dimensions are not an installed height from the block and do not equal the required hood gap.

Mock up the full induction path before paint, final plumbing, or hood work. Close the hood slowly over soft modeling clay or foam at likely contact points, checking the inner bracing as well as the skin. Inspect the cowl, firewall, brake booster, accessories, hoses, and intake-tube route. Some builds may need a raised or modified hood.

Choose the Matching 92mm or 102mm Throttle Body

Start with the throttle-body diameter that matches the manifold opening: a 92 mm throttle body for the Haytalras 300-116 and a 102 mm throttle body for the 300-117. Matching the nominal bore supports a cleaner, airflow-focused transition, but diameter alone does not prove a direct bolt-on fit or guarantee a performance gain.

Haytalras currently offers four-bolt, cable-operated LS throttle bodies in both sizes, including versions supplied with TPS and IAC. The two TPS/IAC-equipped choices below are relevant starting points for these Hi-Ram builds. Verify every mounting, control, sensor, and clearance detail for the exact parts before ordering.

92mm Starting Point for the 300-116

This Haytalras 92 mm option is cable operated and its current product listing identifies TPS and IAC. Confirm the four-bolt flange, gasket, blade sweep, cable hardware, connectors, and ECU requirements.

102mm Starting Point for the 300-117

This Haytalras 102 mm option is cable operated and its current product listing identifies TPS and IAC. Confirm the four-bolt flange, gasket, blade sweep, cable hardware, connectors, and ECU requirements.

Control-system warning: These Haytalras choices are drive-by-cable (DBC), not electronic drive-by-wire (DBW) throttle bodies. A vehicle that currently uses DBW needs a separately planned conversion involving the pedal or cable, bracket and return system, TPS/IAC wiring, ECU strategy, and calibration; this is not a plug-in throttle-body replacement.

  • Verify the physical interface: compare the flange bolt centers, mounting threads, gasket or seal, inlet alignment, orientation, and throttle-blade clearance.
  • Verify full mechanical travel: provide a suitable cable bracket and return arrangement, then confirm that the blade reaches wide-open throttle and returns fully closed without binding.
  • Verify the electronics: check TPS and IAC mounting, connector style, pinout, harness reach, ECU compatibility, and any required calibration.
  • Mock up the complete inlet: include the throttle body, coupler, intake tube, cable, connectors, and nearby hood structure when checking front clearance.

Plan the Included Fuel Rails and Plumbing

Do not automatically add a separate fuel-rail kit. Both current Haytalras listings say the package includes one intake manifold and one fuel rail kit, plus unspecified parts shown in the product images. Images show two black rails, a braided crossover, seals, fasteners, spacers, and several plugs or adapters, but a photograph is not a count-controlled packing list. Confirm the current box contents for the exact SKU and finish before buying duplicate hardware.

The listings describe the rails as machined for '-8 AN O-ring fittings.' That wording does not, by itself, identify the female rail thread, O-ring size, or adapters included in the box. Confirm both the rail-end thread and sealing method before buying hose ends; do not use a tapered pipe fitting unless a verified drawing specifically calls for it. Plan feed and return routing, regulator reference, filter, pump, hose material, and pressure from the requirements of the complete EFI system.

Plan Sensor Vacuum and Wiring Connections

Make a port-assignment list for MAP, intake-air temperature, PCV, brake-booster vacuum, regulator reference, and any auxiliary vacuum needs. A visible boss is not proof of a finished port. Confirm which holes are machined, their threads and seals, and which plugs or adapters are included.

Route wiring away from linkage, belts, exhaust heat, and sharp edges. Match MAP range and calibration to the ECU, and place the IAT sensor according to the engine-management instructions. Use a suitable vacuum distribution arrangement when several devices share a source. Seal every unused port correctly and keep debris out of the runners.

Complete the Pre Installation Checklist

Use this checklist before final assembly:

  • Record the cylinder-head manufacturer and part or casting number; confirm its port shape and intake bolt pattern.
  • Check engine angle, mounts, machining history, and whether the manifold sits freely during a dry fit.
  • Use 606.1 x 333.8 x 314.6 mm (23.86 x 13.14 x 12.39 in.) only as the casting envelope; mock up every part above and around it.
  • Obtain a packing list for the exact SKU. Inspect the casting, machined faces, grooves, threads, seals, and hardware.
  • Confirm throttle bore, bolt centers and threads, gasket, cable or drive-by-wire controls, connector, and ECU support.
  • Confirm rail-end threads and seals, routing, regulator reference, pump, filter, hose compatibility, and specified system pressure.
  • Assign MAP, IAT, PCV, brake-booster, regulator, and auxiliary connections from a verified port map.
  • Use only the sealing procedure, tightening sequence, and torque specified for the exact manifold and hardware received. Do not copy values from a look-alike product.
  • Before startup, prime and leak-check the fuel system, verify sensor readings, calibrate the throttle, and load a safe base calibration. After startup, monitor fuel pressure, air-fuel ratio, sensor values, and leaks before applying load.

Choose the Manifold After the System Is Defined

Choose between these manifolds only after defining the heads, available height, throttle control, fuel system, and plumbing. Select the 92 mm 300-116 or 102 mm 300-117 because it matches that verified plan. A larger opening helps only when the rest of the engine and calibration can use it.

Both versions share the sculpted cast-aluminum appearance and external envelope, so the decision should center on fit and system compatibility. Review the current 300-116 product page and 300-117 product page, then send Haytalras the head information, throttle-body drawing, rail-fitting requirement, and requested packing list before checkout. Verification is cheaper than correcting a hood, flange, fuel, or wiring mismatch later.
