Haytalras vs. Holley Hi-Ram Intake: Within 1 HP on the Dyno, About $790 Less
LS Hi-Ram Intake Comparison
A real Silverado dyno test, a look inside both manifolds, and how to pick the right Haytalras Hi-Ram for your LS heads.
In Horsepower Factory's back-to-back test on the same modified Chevy Silverado, our one-piece Hi-Ram made 484.40 hp at the wheels. The Holley Hi-Ram made 483.62 hp. That's a 0.78 hp gap, close enough to call a draw. The bigger difference is the price: our 300-116 starts at $359.99, while Holley's natural-finish 300-116 was listed at $1,149.95 when we checked.
Below are the dyno sheets, photos from inside both manifolds, and a straight answer on who should buy which.
Quick Verdict
- Power: a drawBest runs of 484.40 hp (Haytalras) and 483.62 hp (Holley) on the same truck and dyno.
- Price: about $790 less$359.99 for the Haytalras 300-116 vs. $1,149.95 for Holley's natural-finish 300-116.
- Build: fixed vs. removable topOurs is one cast piece with no lid joint. Holley's top unbolts for access and modular setups.
- Fit: match your heads300-116/117 for LS3/L92 rectangle ports; 300-122/123 for LS1/LS2/LS6 cathedral ports.
The Dyno Test
In 2022, Horsepower Factory ran two Hi-Ram EFI intakes on the same modified Chevrolet Silverado and published the results in "Chi-ram vs Holley Hi-Ram: Intake manifold test". The intake they call the "Chi-Ram" is our one-piece, rectangle-port Hi-Ram, the design we sell today as the Haytalras 300-116 (92 mm) and 300-117 (102 mm).
Best run vs. best run
| Intake | Best run (wheel hp) | Road speed at peak |
|---|---|---|
| Haytalras one-piece Hi-Ram | 484.40 hp | 127.90 mph |
| Holley Hi-Ram | 483.62 hp | 127.41 mph |
| Difference | 0.78 hp (about 0.16%) |
A 0.78 hp gap is within normal run-to-run variation, so we don't call it a win. What it does show is that our one-piece casting kept pace with the Holley on the same truck, same dyno and same day.
How to read these graphs
Both screens plot wheel horsepower (Dynojet "Power Drum") against road speed in mph. They are not crank horsepower and not a horsepower rating for the manifold itself. Dyno pulls vary, and we show every run rather than only the best ones: our other pulls read 417.71, 451.90 and 483.62 hp, and Holley's read 481.89 and 403.27 hp. The screenshots don't record why individual pulls differ, so the fair comparison is best run against best run.
One truck and one test day can't predict every engine. Your numbers will depend on your heads, cam, tune and the rest of the combination.
One-Piece vs. Modular Construction
This is where the two intakes really differ. The Haytalras Hi-Ram is a one-piece aluminum casting with a fixed top. The Holley Hi-Ram has a removable plenum top that bolts to the base, as shown in Holley's product documentation.
Inside, both use a common plenum feeding eight radiused runner entries in two banks. The visible layout matches; we haven't published paired measurements of runner length, taper or plenum volume, so we don't claim the internals are identical.
Why a fixed top works
No lid gasket and no lid bolts means one less joint to seal and one less thing to re-torque. If you plan to set up your intake once and run it, the one-piece design keeps things simple.
When Holley's removable top is worth it
If you expect to open the plenum for inspection or porting, or want to swap to a different top configuration later, Holley's modular design gives you that option. Compatible parts are listed in the Holley installation manual.
How we build every Haytalras Hi-Ram
We've been making intake manifolds in our own factory for 8 years, including OEM production for established US aftermarket brands. Every Hi-Ram is cast from aluminum, finish-machined on CNC equipment, then leak-tested and checked for dimensions and appearance before it ships. Selling factory-direct is how we keep the price where it is.

Which Model Fits Your Heads
Pick the port family first, then the throttle size. The port shape on your cylinder heads decides which intake bolts on, and on a swapped or modified engine that may not match the badge on the fender.
- LS3/L92-style rectangle-port heads: 300-116 (92 mm) or 300-117 (102 mm).
- LS1/LS2/LS6-style cathedral-port heads: 300-122 (92 mm) or 300-123 (102 mm).
Choose 92 mm or 102 mm to match the throttle body you plan to run. A bigger opening doesn't add power by itself. Not sure which heads you have? Our LS3/L92 Hi-Ram fitment guide and EFI vs. carbureted LS intake guide walk through it.
| Haytalras model | Cylinder-head ports | Throttle opening | Starting price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 300-116 | LS3/L92 rectangle | 92 mm | $359.99 |
| 300-117 | LS3/L92 rectangle | 102 mm | $376.99 |
| 300-122 | LS1/LS2/LS6 cathedral | 92 mm | $467.99 |

From the 300-116 and 300-117 product listings:
- Included: the Hi-Ram intake manifold and a fuel rail kit machined for -8 AN O-ring fittings.
- Injectors: the rails take EV1 or Pico-style injectors. Factory LS injectors may not fit the rail assembly.
- Not included: the throttle body. Brackets are sold separately.
- Height: 12.32 in. front and rear. Most vehicles will need a modified hood or cowl.
- Intended use: performance engines up to about 427–440 cubic inches and 7,500–8,500 rpm, depending on the combination.
Cathedral-port models (300-122/123): check their product pages for package details.
Quick checklist
- Confirm your heads: rectangle or cathedral port.
- Pick your throttle body: 92 mm or 102 mm, plus the linkage and brackets to run it.
- Plan the fuel system: -8 AN fittings and compatible injectors.
- Measure your hood clearance against the 12.32 in. height, plus the inlet tube and filter.
Still unsure? Send us your engine, head casting numbers and a few photos through Fitment Support, and we'll confirm the right model before you order.
FAQ
Is the Haytalras Hi-Ram the "Chi-Ram" from the Horsepower Factory video?
Yes. The one-piece intake tested in the video is our rectangle-port Hi-Ram design, sold today as the 300-116 (92 mm) and 300-117 (102 mm).
Will it fit under my stock hood?
Usually not. At 12.32 in. tall, most vehicles need a modified hood or cowl. Measure before you order.
Can I use my factory LS fuel injectors?
Factory LS injectors may not fit the included rails. Plan on EV1 or Pico-style injectors.
How do I tell rectangle-port from cathedral-port heads?
Rectangle ports (LS3/L92 style) are wide and short; cathedral ports (LS1/LS2/LS6 style) are tall and narrow. Compare your heads with Figures 7 and 8, or see our Hi-Ram fitment guide.
What if it doesn't fit my build?
In-stock orders ship within 1 business day, and unused, uninstalled parts can be returned free within 30 days of delivery. See our returns policy for details.
The Bottom Line
On the same Silverado, our one-piece Hi-Ram matched the Holley to within 0.78 hp. If you want the removable top for porting or future top swaps, the Holley earns its price. If you want the Hi-Ram look and performance for a set-it-and-run LS build, the Haytalras 300-116 gets you there for about $790 less.
