Ford Mustang Intake Manifolds (289, 302, 351W & FE)

Intake manifolds for the classic and Fox body Ford Mustang, 1964 to 1995. The right intake depends on which Ford V8 family is in the car: the 289/302 small block Windsor, the taller 351 Windsor, or the FE big block (390, 427, 428) used in the 1967–1970 cars.

Fitment by engine

Not covered: the 1971–1973 351 Cleveland and 429 Cobra Jet, and the 4.6L modular V8 used from 1996.

Which one should you choose?

• Stock-hood street car: the 8124 low-rise dual plane keeps the hood line and low-end torque.

• Modified 289/302: the 4001 or 4026 Air-Gap dual plane; the 4031 single plane for a high-RPM build.

• 351W, or a 302 stroked to 347: a 351W needs the taller-deck 4023 or 4033; a 347 keeps the 302 deck and uses a 302 intake.

Before you order

• 302 vs 351W: they do not share an intake. The 351W block is taller, so its intake is wider. See our small block Ford page for how to tell them apart.

• Fox body 5.0 EFI: these are 4-barrel (4150) carb intakes. Going from EFI to a carburetor also means fuel system, ignition and computer changes.

• Hood clearance: high-rise and single plane intakes usually need a cowl or scooped hood on a Mustang.

• Emissions: for off-road and racing use. Check your state's rules before installing on a registered vehicle.

FAQ

Will a 302 intake fit my 289?

Yes. The 289 and 302 share the same heads and intake pattern.

Is the 1994–1995 Mustang 5.0 the same?

It is still a 302 Windsor, so the 302 intakes bolt on, but these years use EFI, so it is a carburetor conversion.
